About BGFC
Introduction
Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy is a faith-based outreach ministry that
serves the horse farms of Central Kentucky. As a Christian ministry,
we strive to enrich the lives of workers and their families through
the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his love in action.
This is the second farm based ministry that has been established through
the Race Track Chaplaincy of America (RTCA). The first farm ministry
was started in Ocala, Florida in 2001, and with the seed planted there,
the RTCA decided to create a farm ministry for the Central Kentucky
area in January of 2002. It took a little over a year before the idea
of the BGFC, Inc. was created, and in doing so, started a faith-based
outreach ministry that has grown into a reality.
The RTCA was founded in 1969 and was incorporated as
a nonprofit corporation in 1972 - the same year the first
track chaplain was called to serve at Gulfstream Park.
Today, the national organization, composed of chaplains
from many denominations, sanctions and oversees 55 Chaplains
who serve at 87 racetracks, training centers and farms
from coast to coast. Its stated mission is to provide
for the spiritual, emotional, material and social needs
of horse racing’s workforce.
